VETERANS DAY 2009
by Donna F. Miller
The fatigues looked strange at the grocery store.
The soldier was home on leave.
He needed time to deal with loss.
He needed time to grieve.
The mundane things of daily life
Gave comfort to his soul.
He walked the dog and fed the kids.
He handled every role.
Soon duty's call will send him back
To fight his Country's fight.
Thanks to soldiers we hold dear
We're safe at home tonight.
