VETERANS DAY 2006
by Donna F. Miller

I’m safe and sound on Veterans Day.

Secure at home in the U.S.A.

Our fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers,

Sons and daughters and many others

Served our country to keep us free.

We owe them thanks for liberty.

If you can read my meager rhyme,

Thank a teacher when you have time.

The words are English, thank a Vet.

We can’t repay the enormous debt.

Service to country far and near.

Thank our Veterans again this year.
