Judge Miller has completed more than 400
judicial continuing education hours. She has made an effort to
educate the public through her former newspaper column, court on TV and
many presentations at schools, clubs and retirement communities. She
also does historical presentations.
As a former school teacher, she learned patience and flexibility.
She is fair but firm. She is practical. She understands that
the judicial system has limited funding. She wants your tax dollars
spent wisely.
Judge Miller has seen the court system from the law enforcement side when
she was a Sheriff's attorney. She saw the court system from the
defendant's side as an Assistant Public Defender. She saw it from
the victim's side when she was assaulted as a teacher and when her stepson
was kidnapped at gunpoint, beaten and robbed. She has seen it from
the bench for 15 ½ years.
As a judge, she has seen some evil people who have done evil things.
She has seen good people who have made a mistake and many people who fall
in-between. She tries to help people change when she can, sometimes
by creative sentencing. Sometimes punishment is required. She
tries to use her power as she should, not because she can.
Judge Miller, age 62, is married to Jim Miller, commercial Realtor, civic
leader, and volunteer. They have raised two sons, Andy and Bill
(this webmaster:
link). The Millers have 2 dogs and 2 cats.
